The Health Check

Date of visit: 18/06/19

Existing installation of 20 x 185W solar panels on an East facing roof, 26/10/2011 with no Battery Storage.

The output electricity generation by Solar PV considering the orientation is at maximum on the East facing roof only. During the evening, the consumers have less or no solar generation because of the sun’s orientation from the Solar PV System.

Consumer Estimated Annual usage 5298.9 KWh

Utility Company: Octopus Energy

Solar PV installation: 26/10/2011. 20*185W Solar PV System.

Solar PV electricity generation 3.7KWp

Monthly Electric bill £111.00.

Recommendation

Roof spaces have potential for South West(SW) orientation of 38 degree. The dimension of the South West facing roof is 6.20m which is at an angle to an adjacent roof space that can accommodate 4 additional Solar PV panels.

The roof space can take 10 additional Solar PV System because it is split array configuration for the Solar PV installation. The roof space has 3 spatial orientation for the solar installation.

Conclusion

The high electric bill and high annual usage of electricity is indicative of the existing Solar PV not functioning to full capacity and not professional installed by the original company.

Options Available

Solution one: battery only

Installation of Solax 4.5 KW Battery at the garage.

Battery must be Grid Share Compliant Equipment and retrofit.

Benefits:

Client can trade the electricity in the battery with renewable utility companies.

Client electricity bill will be reduced.

Solution two:

Installation of Solax 4.5Kw Battery and 8 x Solar Panel with SolarEdge.

Benefits:

Electricity generated will be completely utilised in the house, significant reduction of electric bill (save up 70% on electric bill)

Client can trade surplus electricity with Renewable utility Energy Companies.

The entire solar panel system will be completely optimised and mitigated against any shading factor.

The overall performance of the PV system will more efficient and fully utilised.

In the future, the system is ready for any extra energy usage in the property.

An innovative method to convert oil-heated homes
by Solar Services Solutions 20 November 2024
The energy crisis has become a major factor for those consuming gas and electricity consumption. As the cost-of-living increases, petrol and diesel prices and that of goods in shops grow unpredictable, consumers and homeowners should consider the best option for managing the uncertainties and take decisions to save money. Installation of Solar photovoltaic (panels), heat pumps and green hydrogen are increasingly viable renewable energy technologies for both domestic and commercial properties in the UK. Correctly integrating these technologies is where gains can be made. Navigating this complexity requires an expert site survey to establish the energy requirements hence find the most suitable efficient technologies for the customer. An expert site survey should consider a holistic approach to all installations, determining best insulation to minimise and eliminate any heat loss. The report primarily considers the customer’s estimated electricity and gas usage. LED Lighting upgrade would potentially save over 50% of electricity consumption and save consumers money. Typical considerations for solar photovoltaic and heat pumps: • Household electricity requirements throughout the day • Maximising solar panels installations on roof • Sun direction on roof, inclination and shading factors • Roof structural survey • Regulations for listed buildings • Solar panels optimisation and micro- inverter options • Integration of solar electricity to your water heating system • Battery storage system integration to solar panels installed • Battery and inverter location • DNO application • Three phase or single-phase electricity meter option • Smart meter requirement (COP10, COP11 and P375) • Transition to low carbon economy • Integration of electric vehicles to solar pv installed with EV charger • Management of surplus solar panel electricity generation • Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) • Solar canopy options based on space and consumer energy requirements • Loft and cavity wall insulation • Double glazing or triple glazing windows • Heat Loss calculation • Best type of heat pumps • Best location for installing heat pumps • Oversizing or under sizing of heat pumps • Heat pumps noise level • ASHP AND GSHP Planning application • LED lighting upgrade for your commercial or domestic properties • Solar panel integration to future green hydrogen To assist you in making the right decisions and protect your investment and give you peace of mind, book a site survey for unbiased expert analysis: get in touch .
